Meet Doctor Brigitte

Doctor B with her cat Friskabella

I was born in Castelsarrasin, France and traveled extensively in my youth, growing up mostly in France, the Ivory Coast (West Africa) and Canada. Like many people, I’ve been an animal lover my whole life.

I studied Animal Sciences and Nutrition at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences – University of British Columbia and graduated with Distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) in 1984, and have been building my expertise in dog and cat health care ever since.

I have worked in my own  practices and as a relief veterinarian for my colleagues throughout British Columbia (Northern BC, the Okanagan Valley, the  Kootenays,  and in the Lower Mainland) What a beautiful province BC is !  I’ve tried to expose myself to as many learning opportunities as possible, and am proud of my career and commitment to this wonderful field of medecine. I attend the leading veterinary conferences each year  for Continuing education to  meet or exceed the requirements of the licensing board. to broaden and enhance my veterinary knowledge and skills. I am also a  member of VIN, the Veterinary Information Network. VIN allows Doctors to consult on cases and access a knowledge base of veterinary medical information throughout the world.

I am a member of the IAAHPC ( Internal Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care) . IAAHPC is focused on providing me with the tools and resources I need to provide comfort-oriented care to companion animals as they approach the end of life.

My approach to general veterinary medicine is one that takes both the pet and the owner into consideration, and one that also relies on the involvement of the owner in the diagnosis, treatment and general health of the pet.. There are never any guarantees, but it certainly is rewarding when you see an animal that once was suffering from illness, wagging, wiggling or purring again.
